Zilkha Industrial Update

Monday, representatives of Zilkha Bio-Mass were in Monticello, working to finalize steps leading to the construction of their black pellet biofuel production facility in the industrial complex.
While in town they met with the mayor, county judge, MEDC director, and foresters.
MEDC director, Nita McDaniel, said
told MLive, “They were here to reassure community leadership that the project is moving forward, just not as quickly as they would like.”
Zilkha representatives visited the future construction site, and were pleased with the road that the county has built, and other improvements there.
Tentative construction could begin in January/February 2016.
