It was announced at Wednesday’s MEDC meeting, that Zilkha Biofuels has canceled their proposed pellet mill in Monticello.
In a land sale that took place in 2014, UAM sold 80.99 acres of property, located next to the industrial complex to Zilkha for use in the facility.
With the cancellation of the industries construction, MEDC will receive ownership of the land, in exchange for their work and expense in the project. UAM paid for the property in full, at that time. Zilkha will forfeit the land, and all expenses in ground studies and other areas, in preparation for the factory’s construction.
