Murder Trial Begins for Death of Baby
January 8th, 2019 by iPhoneCourt began at 9 am, with jury’s random seating being called, followed by questions from Judge Sam Pope.
Introductions of prosecutor Frank Spain and defense attorney Greg Robinson followed by questions from both attorneys.
Jury selection was completed at 10:30.
Opening statements began just before 11:00.

26 Year Old Woman Arrested for Murder of Baby
October 5, 2017
Wednesday, at approx. 1:30pm, officers from the Monticello Police Department and Arkansas State Police arrested a Monticello woman for Murder 1st Degree.
The suspect is identified as Kannika Jenkins 26 of Monticello
This investigation started on August 30th with the suspect’s 19 month old child being brought in to Drew Memorial Hospital, where it died shortly after arrival.
The body was sent to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy to find out the manner of death.
After several interviews and the findings of the state crime lab declaring the death a homicide, an arrest warrant was obtained for murder in the 1st degree through Judge Bruce Anderson.
Jenkins is being held at the Drew County Detention Facility with no bond at this time.
