Walmart New Policies for Customer Safety
April 6th, 2020 by Joe BurgessFriday, Walmart corporate announced multiple changes that affect customers in their stores.
Entrance to the store will only be through the grocery entrance.
The policy also limits 5 customers for 1000 sq/ft of each store. That sounds more limiting than it actually is. Our local Walmart is estimated to be approximately 130,000 square-foot. Each 1000 foot would allow for 5 customers to be in the store at a time. This calculates out to around 650 customers at a time.
Shoppers familiar with Walmart estimate that there are very few times in a year where 650 customers would be in the store at the same time. Those days would be special events, similar to Black Friday.
Here is the link to Walmarts webpage, describing these changes in detail.
Another suggestion is to make fewer trips to Walmart, to purchase more items from your list. Another recommendation is to not bring family members with you. This would reduce their exposure to other customers who may be carriers of the virus.
We were also told that Walmart is hiring to help with the stocking of inventory, which makes it one of the few businesses in the area that are currently hiring. Apply at Walmart.com.
