Voting Machine Failure Interfere with Tax Election
August 9th, 2022 by Joe BurgessMonticelloLive has received notification from voters that polling sites in Monticello are having multiple machine failures, hampering residents from casting ballots in the one cent city sales tax election.
At 8:30, this morning, a voter left the Holmes Chapel voting site, to try to vote at the First Methodist Church voting site.
The voters stated that, “Holmes Chapel is having the same apparently network issues, that the Methodist Church is having.”
At 9:10, the county clerk’s office reported that Holmes Chapel had been brought back online, but that the Methodist Church’s system was down, and that poll workers were was sending their voters to First Presbyterian.
Apparently, paper ballots were not printed for the election.
Just before 11 AM, County Clerk Nancy White confirmed that all four precincts are operating successfully and have been, although times of system failures were not available.
