Visiting Athlete Struck by Hit & Run Driver on 425, Help Police ID Driver
March 18th, 2019 by iPhoneAccording to multiple sources, at 8:09 PM, Saturday night, an unidentified Southeast Oklahoma State University athlete received life-threatening injuries in a hit-and-run auto/ pedestrian collision on HWY 425 N. in Monticello.
The SOSU baseball team played a doubleheader against UAMonticello, Saturday afternoon, in Monticello.
After the game, a group of visiting players was returning to Holiday Inn Express, from a meal at Western Sizzlin, crossing the highway when the accident occurred.
Sources report a northbound “dark vehicle” struck the young man and drove away, without stopping.
Local ambulances and law-enforcement quickly responded. The victim was taken to Drew Memorial Hospital, before being transported to Little Rock, for further treatment.

Sunday’s game has been canceled, to allow everyone to focus on their concerns for the young man, his team, coaches and family.
