USPS, “Wilmar Post Office Will Remain Open” with Reduced Window Hours.
October 18th, 2012 by Joe BurgessConstance Thompson, supervising officer in charge of Pine Bluff Post Offices and Terry Gillum of the White Hall Post Office, led a United States Postal Service public meeting at the Wilmar City Hall, Wednesday evening, to announced their recent survey results, and the future of the Wilmar Post Office to a room full of concerned residents.
The survey of postal customers went out to over 800 customers, and was completed by over 200, expressing their preference of accepting reduced window hours, as opposed to the possibility of losing the Wilmar Post Office.
Effective in January, the Wilmar facility will be open from 8 am until noon on weekdays. It will keep its’ current Saturday hours of 8:30 – 11:30 am.
All rural routes will remain the same, and all addresses will remain as they currently are listed.
“USPS transportation” will take over operation of the blue drop boxes, so those boxes will continued to be picked up in the afternoons, after the local office has closed.
Dan McNeil, Monticello’s Postmaster, will also take over that position for the Wilmar branch, which will be manned by other postal employees.
