Updated Info – Deputy’s Drug Arrest
February 7th, 2017 by iPhoneAccording to information just received by MLive, on January 31, agents of the DTF began an investigation into allegations that deputy Robert “Bo” Sanderlin of the Drew County Sheriff’s Office attempted to entice a person with an alleged pending drug charge from mid-January, into planting drugs on another person, prior to a traffic stop/drug bust.
DTF agents recorded the person’s call to Sanderlin, as he told the deputy that he would plant the drugs on someone from Warren, so that Sanderlin could make the traffic stop, and a drug bust, on the unknowing subject.
Our source continues, “During that call, Sanderlin told the person that he didn’t care how the drugs (specificly an 8-ball of methamphetamine) were planted” on the third-party, then discussed possible scenarios for the traffic stop.
On Wednesday, February 1, the person again called Sanderlin, at the agent’s direction, and stated that he had purchased the 8-ball of meth from Hampton, and would place it on the unknowing suspect without their knowledge.
Sanderlin then allegedly instructed the person “where not to place the drugs”, in order for appropriate possession to take place, and then which direction to travel.
Both of these conversations were recorded by DTF agents.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Sanderlin on Thursday, February 2, for the offenses of solicitation of methamphetamine (greater than2 grams), abuse of office and use of a communications device.
Sanderlin was arrested that afternoon. His employment with the sheriffs office was terminated on Friday.
No date has been set for any court action in the case.
