UAM Names Ken Hamilton as Men’s and Women’s Golf Head Coach
July 30th, 2021 by UAM SportsThe University of Arkansas athletic department named Ken Hamilton the head coach of the men’s and women’s golf programs, Interim Director of Athletics Hud Jackson announced Thursday.
“We are excited to have Ken come on board to lead the men’s and women’s golf programs here at UAM,” said Jackson. “He has great experience as a leader coaching golf and managing the athletic department at Jacksonville College. We are eager to get Ken to campus and continue building upon the successes of the UAM men’s and women’s golf programs.”
Hamilton joins UAM after spending the past four years at his alma mater Jacksonville College in Jacksonville, Texas where he served as the Athletic Director and Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach. Prior to his promotion to the Athletic Director position in 2019, Hamilton served as the Assistant Athletic Director.
Under his guidance, the Jaguars boasted 17 NJCAA All-Academic All-Americans and one NJCAA All-Academic All-American Team. Hamilton also helped the men’s and women’s golf programs reach a 100 percent graduation rate and post a 3.75 GPA in 2020-21.

One of my greatest joys is to see a student-athlete not only doing well athletically but doing well in the classroom and developing as a young adult making certain when they leave UAM they have the tools to be a successful professional. I look forward to meeting and getting to know my team. My wife and I are really looking forward to making Monticello our home and getting to know the UAM family. Go Weevils!”
During his collegiate career, Hamilton played competitive golf at Jacksonville College. He began playing golf as a member of the golf team at Troup High School in Troup, Texas, where he shot an unprecedented 62 at the High School Men’s Regional Tournament in 1981.
Hamilton has a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Texas A&M – Commerce, where he also completed his Master of Athletic Administration. The Troup, Texas native, is also a veteran of the United States Navy and spent 28 years in supervision and management in the freight industry.
Hamilton and his wife, Teri, have been married 38 years and have three adult children and five grandchildren.
