UAM Announces “Shifting Monuments” Art Exhibit
October 3rd, 2019 by UAM News“Shifting Monuments”, an exhibition of paintings and drawings by Felicia Leach can be viewed in the Glassblock Gallery in the Taylor Library at UAM through October 10, 2019.
By layering time through transfer, tracing, and gesture until the totality of the event is recorded within a stable image, Felicia Leach’s paintings and drawings become the modality of time, perception, and production that reveal and conceal the flux within a particular place.
Felicia Leach has a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a MFA from Southern Illinois University- Carbondale. She has had opportunities to work with many creative groups such as the Citizen Jane film festival, the True/ False film festival, Detroit Contemporary, and the Philadelphia Art Alliance. Advancements in her work have been strengthened through residencies at the Shenandoah National Park (Virginia), MICA Artist Residency (Léhon, France), Casa Na Ilha, (Ilhabella, Brazil) and the Lincoln Education Center at The Juilliard School (NYC). Through these outlets, she has pursued interests in making site-specific prints, drawings, and paintings based in the investigation of time and presence tethered to place. Currently, she works as an artist-educator at Moberly Area Community College teaching foundational design, drawing, and painting.
