A terrible tragedy, I hope everyone will keep her family in their prayers.
Please continue to keep this family in your prayers. Also please keep all of the racers and their families in your prayers. This was tragic news not only to this family but to all of the racers and spectators at Monticello Speedway. This is somthing that we all hope and pray never happens again.God Bless.
This is pretty sad thing to have happened. I just noticed their websites down. I was hoping they would have some more info.
my husband and 2 son’s was there…and told me about it………we hav’nt been able to get it off our minds……we are praying for the family someone told my husband that they had lost another child 3 weeks ago!!
Such a tragic accident! I just hope the owner’s of the track do not decide to shut it down. It would be a great loss to the area if they did. Sure, out of respect for the Reed’s, I can see not racing for a short time but not permanently. Please continue praying for everyone involved.
I agree with you completly Kay. My whole family races out there and we LOVE it. I really hope that Joseph and Michelle will really consider keeping it open.We all hope and pray that something like this will NEVER happen again because Monticello finally has a place that any person any age can go and have a blast!
Tragic events happen…watch the news. What happened out at the racetrack is devastating but something just as tragic could happen at Walmart, or when your out walking on the street. My prayers go out to this family! The racetrack should remain open…of course, a fence might be in place for the revine!
I don’t understand why a child was on an ATV at a racetrack in the first place.
I’m sure that is a question on everyone’s mind, but let’s not ask questions about why and think about how we can make the track a safer place to entertain. I agree that we should not shut down the track. Many people enjoy what it brings to Monticello. My prayers go out to this family. My husband took it very hard seeing it first hand. He was involved in helping try to save the little girl.
I agree Carol, now is not the time to lay blame. Kids around here ride ATV’s all the time. Accidents happen. Everyone involved are beating themselves up enough without others trying to find someone to blame. It happened, learn from it, make the track better, and keep on going. We just need to back off for now and give everyone involved time to heal.
I’m sorry. I really didn’t mean to offend anyone. I’ve not visited a racetrack and I don’t know why ATV’s are there. I thought people sat in bleachers and watched races. It was a horrible accident and just hearing about it has upset me very much.
No offense taken, Pam. But there is an area for spectators and another separate fenced off area for the drivers and their crews and families.
Once the track opens back up come on out and check it out. Contrary to recent events, it is a fun and exciting place to go.
Yes this was a very devastating tragedy! This type of tragedy could happen anywhere just like Angela said. Yes everyone should pray for the family that they would get over this tragedy. I really hope that the race track does not shut down because it is entertainment for a lot of people. The emergency personell are there in case of any type of accident that may happen, but sometimes even they can only do so much in some kind of event that may happen. I witnesed and was part of the rescue effort as a firstresponder, we done everything possible that could have been done, but it was all in gods hands. There were many emergency personell that was involved in the rescue effort that should be thanked and praised for their efforts. May GOD Bless the Reed family, the race track family, and all emergency personell involved in this tragedy!
FYI There was a sign posted outside of A&M rental this morning and a post on the speedway forum stating the track would probably reopen the 14th. Let’s continue to keep the Chapmans and Reeds in our prayers.

While attending the races last weekend, we were able to purchase hot pink bracelets with the message, “In Memory of Faith Reed” on them. They are only $3 each and the donations go the the family and, I believe, a memorial on Faith’s behalf.
Also, Athletic Awards & Apparel have window decals on sale with the same message. I’ve seen them on random vehicles in town and on the race cars.
