Two Drew Central Students Selected For Tobacco Control Youth Board for 2012-2013
June 28th, 2012 by Drew Central SchoolsThe Family Service Agency (FSA) held it’s conference in Little Rock at the Arkansas 4-H Center, June 14-16. Youth from all over the state attended this conference to continue the youth-targeted statewide grassroots campaign Y.E.S. (Youth Extinguishing Smoking) Team to educate and encourage youth leadership.
While at this conference, Drew Central students, Rebecca Moss and Sarah Porter were chosen to serve on the Tobacco Control Youth Board. This is Rebecca’s 4th year on the board and Sarah’s 2nd.
Youth are selected through an application process, interviewed, and must complete four projects during the year. They must also attend monthly conference calls and turn in quarterly progress reports. Members represent their peers in businesses and in governmental and educational communities. The board provides a voice for youth across the state on tobacco prevention issues. Youth who meet the criteria and were willing to adhere to these roles and requirements were chosen to represent the seventy-five counties of Arkansas.
