Victim Identified in Traffic Fatality Caused by Water In HWY
February 23rd, 2019 by iPhoneMinutes before 2 PM, Friday afternoon, a southbound vehicle lost control on Highway 65, near Tillar, after hydroplaning in standing water on the roadway.
After crossing the centerline, the vehicle collided with the front of the northbound box truck, causing the death of the driver of the car.
The driverĀ of the truck was transported by ambulance to Dumas. A passenger in the car was transported to JRMC in Pine Bluff.
The driver of the car, Donald Douglas Manning, age 55 of Wilmot, died at the scene.
Arkansas State Troopers, Arkansas Highway Police, and Desha County Sheriff Deputies responded.
Fire and rescue department that responded included Tillar, McGehee, Dermott and Dumas.
As heavy rains continue to fall across Southeast Arkansas, please use extreme caution when traveling.
