Tornado Siren Installation Underway
November 25th, 2014 by Joe BurgessTornado sirens are currently being installed in the Monticello area, including the show areas near the library, hospital, and Old Troy Road water tower.
A total of 18 sirens will be installed, most on their own self-standing towers.
In response to many resident’s questions, The sirens will be tested weekly (silently), and audibly tested monthly or quarterly.

once again i ask everyone..how many times has a tornado ever touched down in Monticello city limits.. the answer is 0 times.why don`t u waste that money on fixing some these crappy city streets here in town..OR maybe Thats to much trouble
how much is this costing us…or does any one care? i keep seeing this…i guess no one really cares
I care I live by the airport and myself have seen 4 Tornadoes, Honesty I believe anything that can safe 1 life should trump a bumpy street. And I really feel if you want to ask what something cost, ask about the new square, It looked good enough to me as it was, and it most likely cost as much or more than the siren
