Tim Chase Appointed Interim Mayor
March 20th, 2014 by iPhoneThe Monticello City Council, Tuesday night, elected Dr. Tim Chase to serve as the city’s interim, appointed Mayor.
Dr. Chase, who has served as an alderman for multiple terms, was the son-in-law of Mayor Allen Maxwell, who passed away just over a week ago.
Chase told MLive that he plans to serve as a, “figurehead, who is on call as needed.” He continued, “I think the office should be able to run as it has. We just want to keep the ship afloat and heading in the right direction until we get a new Mayor.”

Tim is a good, Christian man who I feel, won’t be pushed around by the few who like to try and run the town. I believe he will do well finishing out this year as Mayor.
I think this is an excellent plan!!!!!!!
He is not finishing out the year. He is only holding the office until the special election on June 24.
Congrats Dr. Chase. Feel like Tim has the right attitude and knowledge of city government to complete the term as Monticello’s Mayor.
Think Mayor Maxwell would be proud and approve of the selection.
The choice was excellent in lieu of the fact Tim was close with the Mayor and more than familiar with the ongoing agenda confronting the city; in addition serving on the city council and very active in the role of the progressive achievements that the Maxwell Administration accomplished during his only time in office gives more than validity to secure this office till June 24th special election. The plans and hope could have been easily shattered if the city council had not made this decision to place Chase as interim Mayor and that the city will realistically look at the platforms, agenda’s and realistic means that the candidates present that will enhance the Maxwell Administration Growth and Development for Monticello. This is critical for the future of the Flagship city of the Cornerstone Economic Region of Southeast Arkansas. Tim Chase
Thanks Dr.Tim.
Tim Chase is an excellent choice to serve in this position. Congratulations Dr. Chase!
