The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team returns to Great American Conference play on Friday and Saturday when the Blossoms host Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Oct. 8 and East Central University on Oct. 9. Friday’s match against Southeastern Oklahoma State University will be “Jersey Night.” Thus, all fans can wear their favorite jersey to help support the UAM volleyball team. Friday’s conference tilt will begin at 6:00 p.m., while Saturday’s showdown with East Central University is set for a 1:00 p.m. start inside Steelman Field House.

The Matchup
University of Arkansas at Monticello: UAM is 6-10 on the season and 1-4 in conference play. Three Blossoms – Mikaela Brown (140), Jamie Agnew (139), and Faith Wilemon (116) – have eclipsed the 100-kill plateau this season. Kalin Duncan paces UAM in assists with 420 on the year, while Katelyn Richbourg (297 digs) and Tori Hamilton (42 blocks) headline the defense for the Blossoms.

Southeastern Oklahoma State University: The Savage Storm sport a 5-8 overall record and 2-3 mark in conference play. Offensively, everything runs through Ruthie Forson as she has accounted for 84% of the team’s assists, while Grace Shehadeh has tallied a team-best 252 digs during the 2021 campaign.

East Central University: The Tigers are winners of five straight and bring an 8-9 overall record, 4-1 in the GAC, into the match against the Blossoms. Nyah Walker, Emma Strickland, and Thalianette Garcia have combined for 477 kills on the year, while Alejandro Delgado has tallied a team-high 319 digs.   

Series History
Southeastern Oklahoma State University: UAM is 4-6 all-time against the Savage Storm, but the Blossoms cruised to a four-set victory over SE in their most recent meeting last season (25-18, 22-25, 25-7, 25-19).    

East Central University: UAM holds a 7-4 record all-time against ECU and swept the Tigers last season (25-20, 25-20, 25-19).
