Trapped Teenagers Inside of Railroad Chip Car, Rescued by MPD & MFD at Midnight

July 16th, 2012 by

Just before midnight, Saturday night, Monticello Police Dispatch received a phone call reporting that two local teenagers were trapped inside of an empty railroad chip car.

MPD and MFD responded, and were able to safely get the pair of youth out of the chip car.

There were three teenage boys at the scene. Someone had dropped their cell phone into the car, as they had reportedly climbed up and were looking inside of huge, empty car.  Two of them hooked their belts together, and climbed inside to retrieve the phone;’ but were unable to get out.

A neighbor on Railroad Street heard them, tried to help, and called the police.

After being rescued, the youth were taken to the City Hall, to be picked up by their parents.

  1. Conservator voter says:

Why were these teenagers unsupervised at midnight? The parents should be at least scolded for their lack of supervision.

  2. Concerned says:

What are they doing out at this hour of the night??
Dropping a phone in a train car? Where they above it or just goofing off.

  3. Concerned citizen says:

That’s what they get for doing something they ain’t got NO BUSINESS doing!

  4. savanah horn says:

Why didnt they use there phones an call for help themselves…

  5. Realistic Person says:

How many readers have snuck out of the house or broke curfew? It’s JULY, not a school night. Also, teenager could mean 13 but most likely these are 16 – 17 year olds.
They most likely didn’t call because they knew they were trespassing and had lied to their parents.

  6. MyAuntLulu says:

They did no harm, they’re just teenage boys being boys. They have to face their parents now and the embarrassment of their little late night adventure. Goodness, haven’t we all done something stupid as a teen. At least they weren’t out vandalizing, burglarizing or terrorizing!

  7. Realistic Person says:

    Amen!

  8. joe says:

Thats right Lulu. Just young boys being adventurous during a summer vacation. Its too hot to explore train cars during the day.

  9. wilmar LADY says:

Yeah that’s just being teenagers. LOL!!!!! They did NO harm & ddnt tear nothing up.

  10. Uncle Bob says:

Just boys being boys. Running around at Midnight Tresspassing and getting in to stuff they shouldn’t. Pretty soon we might see one with a trampstamp across his forehead and breaking in local businesses.

  11. Stephanie Morgan says:

I love how everyone one can sit back a judge others from their little high and mighty chair but if I can remember right the god lord states don’t judge others. Well for everyone to know I used to live right close to the log yard that was on gannet street and played on the train for ever and it wasn’t at midnight it was just before 11 and I know the three boys and yes they do have a curfew and none of them have ever been in trouble before with the law and they was just seeing how deep the train car was inside stuff happens but that gives NO ONE the right to talk crap on a kid!!!! I hope u ask for forgiveness due to the fact u will be judged on the day u get to the gates of the lord and he will look back at u for judging others!!!! God bless u

  12. Jacob trantham says:

Yes all they was doing was just exploring & they was getting down & dudes phone got hit out his hands & they went & got it

  13. J t says:

People that want to talk bad about us get over & stay in ur own live yes we did somthing stupied but it’s none of ur business….

  14. J t says:

People r acking like they didn’t do anything bad back in there day I mean we wasn’t even really doing anything it ain’t like we was hurting anybody or anything

  15. jw says:

    This is hilarious.
