Teacher Resigns after Arrest for “Inappropriate Contact” with Student
June 14th, 2014 by iPhoneOn Wednesday, a Drew Central High School teacher was arrested by authorities with the Drew County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police.
57 year old Helen Banks, Monticello, was interviewed by authorities on this date stemming from an investigation which alleged that Banks was having inappropriate contact and communication with a 16 year old female student. Banks admitted to the allegations during the interview, she was booked into the Drew County Detention Facility and has since bonded out on a $25,000 commercial bond.
The charge at this time against Banks is Sexual Assault in the 2nd degree which is a class B felony. Investigators case file will be sent to Prosecutor Thomas Deen for official charges.
The Sheriff’s Department complimented Drew Central for their handling and reporting of the situation to authorities.
Bank submitted a letter of resignation to the school, Thursday, which was approved by the school board at their meeting that night.
