Sources at the scene described the situation as a northbound school bus was slowing to stop, and the van was southbound.
According to sheriff Mark Gober, the victim, age 10, was attempting to cross the highway to board the school bus, and reportedly struck by the vehicle’s side view mirror.
The child sustained several broken bones and was transported by MASI to Drew Memorial Hospital, and will be transported to a Little Rock Hospital, but is expected to make a full recovery.
There are conflicting statements from the drivers of both vehicles. Some reports from eye witnessess state the school bus had not come to a complete stop as the victim ran across the road.
