Stolen Wallet Leads to $3,000 Bond for Monticello Woman
August 25th, 2012 by Joe BurgessAccording to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober a deputy received a call from a loca man,stating that he noticed that his wallet was missing after returning from a trip to the grocery store, Saturday. Authorities contacted store management who were able to locate him on their security video checking out at the store, where he accidently left his wallet.
A few minutes later, the video showed Regina Donley, age 47 of Monticello, allegedly placing the wallet in her purse. She did not attempt to return the wallet or contact the owner.
Donley was arrested by the Drew County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday, after a warrant was issued for her arrest for theft of property. After investigators interviewed Donley a search warrant was issued for her residence where they found what remained of the money from the wallet. She allegedly told deputies that she disposed of the wallet and contents at Jenkins Carwash.
Donley was taken for a first appearance where she was given a $3,000 bond. She bonded out of jail, Thursday.
