Stolen Truck Recovered Same Day
July 20th, 2020 by Joe BurgessAccording to Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers, the Police Department arrested a Pine Bluff man who brazenly stole a vehicle in broad daylight that was owned Monticello City Employee. The vehicle was parked where the employee reports for work by City Park.
According to Akers, Larry Peifer, age 50, of Pine Bluff was arrested within minutes after stealing the truck, which was parked near city park inside a gated area.
A MPD detective who was aware of the report and was assisting in the search for the vehicle observed the stolen vehicle parked roughly a mile away at a local business. After speaking with citizens at the business, the detective identified the person last seen driving the stolen vehicle near the business and subsequently located the keys to the stolen vehicle in the suspects pocket.
Peifer was charged with Theft of property under $5000, Breaking or Entering and Criminal Trespassing. Bond was set at 15000.00
