Stolen SUV Leads to 4 County Chase, Arrest & $35,000 Bond

Sunday afternoon, around 3 PM, a 33-year-old man reportedly was caught shoplifting in a Monticello store.
When he ran from the store, he jumped into a silver Chevy Suburban, stealing it, and speeding towards Star City, at speeds upto and over 100 mph .
As Star City police and Lincoln County deputies, assisted by Arkansas State Troopers attempted to catch the SUV, it passed 18-wheelers in no passing zones, ran red lights, and attempted to crash into law-enforcement vehicles.
When the pursuit reached the intersection of 425/65, the Chevy avoided the ttraffic light by driving the wrong direction in the oncoming turning lane, towards Pine Bluff.
Larry Woods then drove west to I-530, across an overpass, into a construction zone. A Jefferson County deputy attempted to stop the vehicle with “spike strips”, but the driver changed lanes and took exit 44, driving south towards Lincoln County again,
The Chevy continued its southbound path, crossing into oncoming traffic, and passing on the right side of traffic.
As the person who approached the 530/114 intersection, a Drew County deputy deployed his spike strips, causing the Chevy to slowly come to a stop. Woods then fled the scene on foot, but was quickly caught by Lincoln County officers.
Following his arrest, Woods registered 0.15 on his BAC test.
In Monticello’s Court, he faces charges of theft of property, aggravated assault, shoplifting, and endangering the welfare of a minor. He received a $25,000 bond on these charges.
In Lincoln County, Woods will likely be charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a corrections officer, DWI, theft by receiving. reckless driving, driving on suspended license, possession of an instrument of crime, fleeing. His Lincoln county bond was set at $10,000.
