According to Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers the Monticello Police Department and Federal Agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms arrested one burglary suspect last week and expect more arrests after a local sporting goods business was burglarized early Thursday morning.
Stolen in the burglary were numerous handguns. Some of which have been recovered.
The first arrest was made late Thursday afternoon when law enforcement arrested Omarion Foster, age 18. Akers said more arrests will follow. Foster faces charges of commercial burglary and felony theft. Foster received a $25,000 bond.
Akers cited help from local citizens, the Police Department Crime Tip Line, media outlets (MLive and Advance) and the police department’s social media as contributing to the quick arrest. Also, the Agents with ATF that co-investigated the burglary with MPD were phenomenal in both investigative ability and professionalism.
