Stolen Car Found Wrecked – Information Sought
July 9th, 2012 by Joe BurgessAccording to Sheriff Mark Gober, the Drew County Sheriff’s Department is looking for information regarding the theft of white Infiniti i30 four-door sedan which was reported stolen from Old Deane Road at 1:30 AM Wednesday, July 4th.
The owned told the deputy that she left the keys in the vehicle which was unlocked. The vehicle had been recovered a few hours before she called authorities after it was found wrecked on Firing Range Road in Monticello at approximately 9 PM Tuesday, July 3rd.
A witness as the accident scene told authorities that the driver, a white male, was traveling south on Firing Range Road and almost hit the witness’s vehicle before the Infiniti left the road, crossing a ditch and came to rest in a wooded area. When the witness told the driver that he had already called authorities, the driver took off running. He was last seen wearing a red shirt and white shorts.
If anyone has information about the theft of this vehicle or can identify the driver that fled the scene of the accident, they are asked to contact the Drew County Sheriff’s Department at 367-6211.
