Sheilla Lampkin was recognized as 2007 Drew County Woman of the Year, observed byher husband, Judge Damon Lampkin, UAM’s Jack Lassiter & Gov. Mike Beebe.

Sheilla Lampkin, the District 9 State Representative and wife of long-time Drew County Judge Damon Lampkin, died, late Saturday night, in a hospital in Little Rock.

Mrs. Lampkin had anouonced through Mayor Zack Tucker, at a Democratic event, Tuesday night, that she had recently found out that she had ovarian cancer, and would not be seeking re-election to her position.

A graveside service will be held today at Oakland Cemetary, at 1 pm.

Her obituary is posted at Stephenson- Dearman.

My fondest memories of Mrs. Sheilla are the conversations we had, and that while I was recovering from a broken leg, she delivered a bucket of chicken to us; not because she was a state rep. and I was a reporter, but because we had been good friends.

She used the phrase, “May the life that I live speak for me.”  It did.

The Passing from Mortality to Immortality of Mrs. Sheila Lampkin is a Devastating lost to the Arkansas General Assembly(in particular the Legislative Education Committee) Monticello/Drew & Ashley Counties and the Cornerstone Economic Development Service Region of Southeast Arkansas. This Giant of a Christian Convicted & Service Oriented Woman did her Representative Job Well and didn’t allow Party Affiliation even in the Minority the last 2.5 years stagnate her initiatives for the betterment of the Representative District she service and represents. Sheila Lampkin a Champion Education and Children’s Advocate embraced Governor Asa Hutchinson Computer Science and Coding Initiative with primary emphasis it will enhance the children, youth, Adolescents as well the overall education component. This fervent yet compassionate Christian Woman of the Almighty God through Jesus Christ will truly be missed. May God’s Nature Jehovah Jirah the Lord who Provides in Jesus Christ Name, Provide Healing, Strength and Love upon Damon Lampkin, members of the family and Fellow Colleagues of the Arkansas General Assembly, constituents of District 9 and the Hundreds of Fellow, Friends of the Arkansas Education Association whom she served with pride, dignity and Integrity as State Representative, Classroom Teacher and last and not least a faithful fruitful Spouse to a most honorable man of Integrity her Husband Damian Lampkin. The Death of Sheila Lampkin most definitely not a Blind Alley that Leads this Woman of Integrity into a State of Nothingness but and Open Door to always her Primary Mission and Purpose to be with El Shaddhi The Almighty God and King Jesus Christ in the Kingdom of Heaven for she most definitely faithfully without mental reservations did her job so well the Living, The Dead or the Unborn could/Can do it any Better. So It Be!
