Stage Victim of Series of “Snatch & Run” Group Robberies, including This Afternoon (But Store Doesn’t Want to Press Charges)
November 22nd, 2019 by iPhoneAccording to Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers, a group of four out of town suspects were arrested for stealing thousands of dollars worth of clothing from a local department store.
The suspects, who were not from Drew County, had recently come into a Monticello department store and appeared to be shopping, when the group members each grabbed a large amount of merchandise and fled the store, quickly fleeing the scene. A staff member attempted to stop the suspects, but was shoved out of the way by one of the suspects.
Last week, the suspects attempted the same act, only this time a citizen reported the crime to the Monticello Police Department while it was in progress, along with a vehicle description.
An Arkansas State Trooper spotted the vehicle as it was traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 278 west and upon attempting to stop the vehicle, occupants began to throw large amounts of the stolen clothing from the vehicle onto the roadway.
The vehicle was stopped and the suspects arrested. All suspects were charged with felony theft over $1,000.00
The arrestees are as follows:
Shatoria Rainey – 19 year old
Annie Rainey – 40 year old
Shatorie McDaniel – 26 year old
Zairea Nelson – 21 year old, according to Akers.
