Some Folks Go to Church, Some Folks Go to Jail
January 2nd, 2016 by iPhoneNew Year’s eve always presents many opportunities for entertainment and enjoyment. The same can be said for this year.
Campground Methodist Church held their traditional 5th Thursday night community gospel singing. Mt. Tabor held a Watch Night Service, with multiple visiting pastors. Also, First Assembly, New Life Assembly, and Immanuel Baptist held lock-ins for their youth.
Meanwhile, around midnight, Monticello police responded to a domestic disturbance on South Gabbert street, taking one man to jail.
Around the same time, Drew County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a couple near Rock Springs, while responding to a domestic disturbance call. Traffic stops, later in the early morning hours, also resulted in one drug and one alcohol arrest.
Of course, most local folks welcomed in the new year without drawing the attention of the police, or their pastor.
