Sleeping at Gas Pumps leads to Drug Arrests

According to Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers, last Tuesday, two men were arrested for felony drug charges after falling asleep in a vehicle at a local convenience store. Officers responded as a welfare check after receiving a report of the vehicle parked.
MPD officers approached the vehicle and in addition to the sleeping occupants, observed approximately 2 ounces of methamphetamine sitting in the console of the car.
Kenneth Redding, age 58 of Monroe, Louisiana and James Childress, age 37, of Fordyce, were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of schedule III & IV prescription narcotics.
