SIEMENS vs. City – Hearing Update
July 1st, 2016 by iPhoneThe litigation between the City of Monticello and Siemens Industry continued in Federal Court, Wednesday, over a $10 Million water meter and line replacement contract.
U.S. District Court Judge Price Marshall previously ruled that the contract let by the City to Siemens was illegal and void because it was not let by competitive bidding.
The City is requesting return of almost $7 Million paid on the illegal contract, and Siemens is wanting to be paid for the work and material it provided to the City under the contract.
The City contends that Siemens was not acting in good faith in getting the no-bid contract with the City, and that it should be paid nothing.
Wrdnesdy, U.S. District Court Judge Price Marshall granted a motion filed by the City of Monticello to extend the time for the City to make, obtain and review internal documents held by Siemens Industry and to take depositions of certain Siemens employees.
The Judge also rescheduled the trial of the case from October to December.
