Shots Fired at Home & Attack on 2 Women Lead to Local Man’s Arrest

February 22nd, 2013 by

Around 8 PM Wednesday evening, Drew County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the report of an assault, with shots being fired at a residence on Carter Road, near Wilmar.

Two female occupants of a residents reported that Jeremy Carter, age 42, had allegedly fired shots outside of the residence.  One of the women went to the door, carrying a knife for protection, and was confronted by Carter.  He allegedly grabbed her by the hair, threw her to the ground, and wrestled the knife away from her.

The other occupant of the house went towards the door.  Carter then let the first lady go, chasing the second female into the bathroom.  Carter followed her, stabbing the bathroom door.  She then ran to a bedroom, where Carter grabbed her around the throat, assaulting her, while trying to get keys away from her.

As deputies arrived, they saw Carter’s vehicle leaving the area, going to another residence nearby.

Carter told deputies that he had a BB gun, but after being arrested, he told them that he had a lever action 30-30 (and had thrown it into a  pond).

Carter was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of residential burglary, second-degree domestic battery, terroristic threatening and criminal trespass.

Judge Bynum Gibson set Carter’s bond at $5.000 in a Friday morning hearing.
