Last Thursday morning, a 48-year-old Midway Route man was seriously injured, while cleaning a 12 gauge shotgun.
The man was sitting on his front steps, cleaning the weapon, when it discharged.
The shotgun pellets entered right side of the man’s left ankle, and exited on the left side, causing severe damage to his leg.
Drew County Sheriffs deputies responded to the accidental shooting, as SEEMS prepared to transport him to JRMC.
No updates have been available on the man’s condition, or whether his foot and ankle were able to be saved.
