$500,000 Bond Set On 2nd First Degree Murder Suspect
May 9th, 2018 by iPhoneA second local man has been arrested in the shooting death of Ja’Marius Raymon Lewis, age 21, of Monticello, on April 10 at Turtle Creek Apartments.
The second suspect, 31-year-old Keddrin Walls, was taken into custody on April 30, around 7:30 PM by MPD. His bond was also set at $500,000 by Judge Bruce Anderson.

$500,000 Bond Set On MPD First Degree Murder Charge- April 20, 2018
A 25 year old Monticello man has been arrested in the shooting death of Ja’Marius Raymon Lewis, age 21, of Monticello, on April 10 at Turtle Creek Apartments.
Shawn Binns, of Monticello, was taken into custody by Monticello Police on Barkada Road around 10 am,Thursday morning. Thursday afternoon, his bond was set at $500,000 on the charge of first-degree murder, by District Judge Bruce Anderson.
Binns is being held on first murder charges at the Drew County detention facility, awaiting his first appearance hearing.
The investigation is still in progress, working on other details of the events that occurred that night.

Shooting Victim Released from Jail the Day He Was Killed
April 13, 2018.
Ja’Marius Raymon Lewis, 21, of Monticello, was sentenced to probation, Monday, in Drew County.
He was then released from jail custody Monday afternoon, before being shot to death, early Tuesday morning. He had been incarcerated since November, pending the outcome of the trial.
Lewis had been charged with aggravated robbery from events that took place on August 6, when he robbed and threatened multiple people with a weapon, at a residence on HWY 277 NORTH.
In Monday’s hearing, those charges were dropped to aggravated assault and Lewis was sentenced to five years probation
Court records indicate that during the early morning hours of August 6, deputies received a call from the home that several teenagers were inside.
The report continues that Lewis was appeared to be asleep inside the home, likely entering after most of the other visitors were asleep.
When they woke him up, he became scared and was asking where he was. He then lockef the front door pulled out a black pistol with a long clip and demanded everyone’s money and sim cards from their phones, before leaving the area.

Victim Identitified in Shooting Death
The Arkansas State Police has been requested to assist Monticello Police Department authorities in the investigation of a man who died outside a local apartment complex earlier today.
Monticello Police Officers responded to Turtle Creek Apartments at 727 North Slemmons Street about 12:55 AM this morning (Tuesday, April 10th). The body of Ja’Marius Raymon Lewis, 21, of Monticello was found along a walkway at the apartment complex. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Special Agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division suspect Lewis was shot outside one of the apartments. The body is being transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for purposes of an autopsy to determine the exact manner and cause of death.
The investigation into the death is continuing today and state police special agents will continue to work closely with Monticello authorities and the Drew County Prosecuting Attorney.
