$500,000 Bond in 1st Degree Murder Charge in Dumas – Morning Update
February 10th, 2015 by iPhoneA 21 year old Dumas man appeared before Circuit Judge Don Glover, Monday afternoon, facing the charges of 1st degree murder, 1st degree battery, and 4 counts of aggravated assault
for the death of a 17 year old Dumas youth. Another youth, 18 years old, was also shot in the Saturday evening shooting. There were 4 other youths walking with Morgan and Nelson. Although they were not struck by the gunfire, shots were made in their direction, resulting in the 4 counts of aggravaterd assault.
Todd Wesley Thompson could receive a sentence up to 84 years, if found guilty of all charges, receive the maximum sentence on each, and they were set to run consecutively.
His bond was set at $500,000, by the court.

Update – Arrest & 1st Degree Murder Charge in Dumas Shooting Death

A 21 -year-old man has been arrested on the charges of 1st degree murder and 1st degree battery, for the murder, Saturday night of a Dumas 17 year old. Another youth was also critically injured.
Todd Thompson, 21, of Dumas contacted Arkansas State Police, Sunday, and arranged to surrender.
Thompson was arrested by State Police in Pine Bluff and is facing charges of 1st degree murder and 1st degree battery.

According to the Arkansas State Police, Dumas police officers have requested the assistance of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division in the investigation of an attack on 2 teenagers which left one of the teens dead and the other seriously injured.
At approximately 9:35 PM, Saturday (February 7th) Dumas police were notified of gunshots in the area of West Waterman and Peach Streets.
Prior to the arrival of local police a motorist picked-up two wounded teenagers in the area and transported them to a local hospital.
Jeffery Morgan, 17, of Dumas was later pronounced dead at the local hospital while Kace Nelson, 18, also of Dumas was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Nelson was last reported to be in serious condition.
Local police and Special Agents of the State Police CID are investigating the shooting incident.
