Sex Offender (from Monticello, Last Week) Gets $50,000 Bond on New Ashley County Charges

January 25th, 2018 by

Steven RivaA 42-year-old registered sex offender from Tennessee, currently living in the Crossett area, was arrested in Monticello, last week on charges of stalking and harassment.

After being released on bond, he was arrested last night, by the Ashley County sheriffs department, on felony charges.

Steve Riva was taken into custody around 5:45 pm, yesterday, on a felony arrest warrant, and booked in to the Ashley County jail.

Wednesday morning District Judge Reid Harrod set a $50,000 bond for Riva on the charges of sex offender entering school campus and failure of sex offender to register vehicle, when relocating.

It is alleged that Riva harassed a juvenile female, and attended a sports event at Norman junior high school, where he then sat by a juvenile. Sex offenders must have permission before entering a school campus.

It is also alleged that he did not register his change of address for his vehicle, which is required for all sex offenders, when moving to a new area.

If released on bond, Riva will be required to;
1. Wear in ankle monitor,
3. Have a no contact order with anyone involved in the case, and
3. Stay away from Ashley County school campuses.
