63 MPH Wind Documented as Severe Thunderstorms Leave Trees & Power Lines Down, Roads Closed Last Night
August 10th, 2012 by Joe BurgessSeveral strong thunderstorms rolled across Drew County, last night, with strong winds, heavy rains, and dangerous lightning.
The first storm came through around 8:20, another around 11 pm, with 2 more storm systems (one near Florence and another near Lake Monticello) around midnight.
Most of the damage was reported out in the county, including HWY 278 East, HWY 35 East, Florence Road, HWY 83, and Rabb Road.
The National Weather Service reported a 63 MPH wind gust at the Monticello Airport at 8:23 pm.

This should also include Hayden Loop. There 3 trees down that you barely get around plus all the big limbs. Then around from Hayden Loop toward Mt. Zion Road is a tree down and you have to go through ditch to get around. These ares consist of elderly people that are not able to clean these roadways.
