Selling Drugs on Fred’s Parking Lot, Last Tuesday; Sentenced to 10 Years Prison, Monday
May 16th, 2018 by iPhoneAccording to Lt. Jason Akers of the 10th Drug Task Force, a joint investigation by the Task Force and the Drew County Sheriffs Department resulted in the arrest of an Ashley County man, Tuesday afternoon, on felony drug charges.
Task Force Agents and Deputies arrested Ricky Johnson, age 27, after Agents observed Johnson sell a quantity of methamphetamine at a local business parking lot.
As Agents and a Sheriffs Department narcotics investigator approached Johnson, he fled on foot and was apprehended as he attempted to cross Highway 425.
A quantity of methamphetamine was also located inside Johnson’s vehicle and he was charged with delivery of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver.
Johnson accepted a 10 year plea-bargain offer, when these charges were combined with other previously pending charges before Judge Sam Pope in Drew County Circuit Court, Monday.
Akers wanted to thank the Sheriffs Department for their assistance as well as the Monticello Police officers who showed up to the scene.
