Fair Exhibit Reminder from County Extension Office
June 12th, 2013 by Drew County OfficesMembers of the Drew County Fair Board and the Cooperative Extension Service would like to encourage residents to begin planning for the annual fair, which will be held the third week of September.
“Every year, we have residents tell us that they wish they had thought about entering a craft project, photo or preserved food item in the fair, but didn’t get started in time to do so,” said Drew County Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, Hazelene McCray. “We just wanted to give everyone a friendly reminder that the fair would be coming up, and to ask them to start thinking about things they would like to enter, whether it be arts and crafts, animals, vegetables – whatever. The fair is more fun when there are lots of entries in all the different categories and more people can earn “bragging rights’ about their submissions and have their friends and family come out to view their award-winning works.”
A full list of the rules and regulations regarding specific projects will be included in the annual tabloid in August. Until then, persons having questions about potential entries may contact the Drew County Extension Service at 460-6270. “Entering exhibits is an easy and fun process,” said McCray. “We hope more people will take advantage of this opportunity and help make our fair a success.”
