MMS Students Assist Sr. Center with Walk-a-thon

The annual Meals for Seniors walk-a-thon was held in late April at City Park.
This is one event of the national fundraiser held during March and April benefiting the meals program at the Monticello Senior Citizens Center.
Senior walkers were joined by students from the Monticello Middle School. The students were from the after school, Beta club, and student council programs, with sponsors Lee Anne Thomas, Brittnee Wright, Holly Montgomery, and Chris Allen.
Seniors raising the most money were Bernice Adcock with $1352, and Evelyn Mosley with $595.
There was a time for seniors walking between Joan Good and Andy Briant in first place; and Molly Flemister and Pat Fisher for second place.
Students walking the most lamps were Jackson Hollis first place and a tie for second place between Hunter Frisby and Mikayla McGregor for second place.
The students raised a total of $937.30.Proceeds from the walk-a-thon go toward the meals for seniors fundraiser.
