School Search Leads to Shotgun in Truck

February 20th, 2015 by

imageDuring a scheduled search at Monticello High School, a drug search dog “alerted” on a pick-up truck in the school’s parking lot.

Arkansas Dept. Of Corrections search dogs detected a controlled substance in a student’s vehicle.  The pills found in the truck were medication prescribed to the student.

The senior, male student also had an unloaded 12 gauge shotgun and ammunition, in his truck.

The youth was arrested, and taken for a first appearance before District Court Judge Sara Hartness.   He was released to his parents, later in the day, from the County Detention Facility.

He told the court that he gotten the shotgun from a Lake Village pawn shop, yesterday, and forgotten to remove it from his vehicle, before school this morning.

He is facing charges of possession of a firearm on school property.

I think this is stupid. Mind you my parents are old fashioned, but he has the shotgun in his truck and it isn’t loaded, states he has no ill intent. Back in the 70s and 80s kids brought their hunting rifles to school, their shotguns, etc. And we never fussed because it was harmless. Now anytime we see a gun, real or fake, we freak out like the last 40 years of life never happened. Confinscate the gun, or make a rule where you must be informed of guns in the parking lot. if anyone fails to inform the principals then charge the student.

I had a picture of me taken when i was in high school in the late 90s where it was me, the dead turkey, and my shotgun. Students and teachers were excited to see it. And no person ever thought that I was about to blast everyone nor did it cross my mind. The majority of males had guns in their back glasses in gun racks.
In the 60s, my grandfather carried a 30/30 Winchester on the school bus with him and even killed a deer one time on his route. Haha
What a different world we live in now, uh?
Yes….I don’t want everyone with guns in parking lot nowadays either. Kids are the same nowadays BUT their world that they live in is not.
Exposure to violence, sex, drugs, TV, and the lack of Godly homes has negatively impacted this country.
Please Lord, lay your hand on this country as a nation. Amen

  3. Mom says:

He is a teenage boy and they all carry shot guns and hunt before school!! This is south Arkansas and we hunt and eat wild game here This isn’t washington!!! There is no reason to think county boys are like the crazies in big cities!!
