School Burglary, MPD Arrest
July 2nd, 2019 by iPhoneAccording to Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers, a Monticello man is facing multiple felony charges after being arrested by the Police Department.
According to Akers, Monticello Police arrested Jason McGee, age 45, of Drew County after a Monticello Patrol Officer observed a suspicious vehicle near a Monticello School District Facility on Jordan Drive early Thursday morning, around 4:30 am.
As the officer examined a parked vehicle near the school facility, he encountered three individuals, and upon investigating the situation, it was determined that one of the individuals had burglarized a nearby school facility.
Officers located numerous drills, saws, hand tools, impact wrenches, sockets, batteries and other items. Officer Chris Owens observed foot prints in the dew that had fallen leading away from the vehicle. The tracks were followed and more tools were located aside from what was found in the vehicle.
“This was outstanding police work on the part of the officers involved. It’s exactly the sort of attentiveness and professionalism we expect from our officers”.
McGee was charged with 3 counts of breaking and entering, theft of property over 5,000.00, commercial burglary and possession of marijuana. His bond was set at $25,000
