Scam Calls Impersonating School Districts Reported
October 2nd, 2014 by iPhoneWednesday, Monticello Police received complaints from citizens concerning scam calls or texts.
These calls are being made to parents from their child’s school district.
The person on the phone states they are an office employee and that their child has been injured and is the emergency room.
If you receive one of these calls or text, do not give any personal information to the caller. Hang up and contact the school to verify there is not a problem with your child. Check your caller ID if you get one of these calls. They have been from a blocked number so far. If the school contacts you for a real emergency, it will show the school district’s name and number.
