Responding Officers Describe Shooting Scene
June 28th, 2016 by iPhoneMPD officer Ellis arrived first to the scene, and saw Briggs on the couch, with 2 guns at his feet. He could not tell, in the darkness, that Briggs had been wounded.
After securing the weapons, he testified that Briggs stated that he “did it”, because there had been an affair between Thompson and his wife.
MPD patrolman West entered the room immediately after Ellis.
He told the court that Ellis stepped toward Briggs, after seeing the guns on the floor. The 40 caliber had rounds still in it. The 380 was empty.
He added that EMTs quickly arrived, to treat both men, when the third weapon was found, near Thompson.
When asked, he also stated that he heard Briggs tell Ellis that he shot Thompson because of an affair between Thompson and his wife.
Next to testify was an AT&T representative, to detail phone and text messages.
