According to Sheriff Mark Gober, on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at approximately 7:30 p.m. members of the Drew County Sheriff’s Office, Monticello Rescue / Dive Team, Arkansas Game & Fish and MASI Ambulance Service were dispatched to Lake Monticello (Hunger Run Access) to a vehicle running off into the lake.

It was said that the vehicle was occupied at the time of the incident and submerged in the water. Upon the arrival of Emergency Response personnel, the occupants were able to exit the vehicle safely.

During the investigation of the incident by the Drew County Sheriff’s Office it was determined that the vehicle was traveling west bound on the levee traveling approximately 50 MPH when the driver lost control of the vehicle by hitting the grass and over correcting causing the vehicle to go off the side embankment and entering the lake.

According to two of the passengers inside the vehicle Bryce Temple (18) of Warren had consumed some alcoholic beverages before driving and was going too fast on the gravel levee when he lost control of the vehicle.

Temple who was arrested was taken to the Drew County Detention Facility where he submitted to a Breath Test which indicated that he was under the influence of alcohol and was deemed to be over the legal limit for someone under the age of 21 which is .02. Temple was charged with Failure to Maintain Control and DUI and is scheduled to appear in Drew County District Court.

The Drew County Sheriff’s Office would like to express their thanks to all of the first responders who responded to the accident.
