Reminder for Retail & Restaurants, Sales Tax is 9.75% -Video
October 18th, 2016 by Joe Burgess
At Monday night’s quorum court meeting, Judge Robert Akin issued a reminder for local businesses, in reference to the sales tax change that took place on July 1, when the library tax expired.
The state department of finance and administration sent out notification letters to all businesses, instructing them that the sales tax would become 9.75%, on July 1. These letters were sent 2–3 months before the change was set to take place.
Due to the early notification, local businesses did not make the change, and are just being reminded that it did take place.
