Rainy Wreck Sends SUV. & 3 Passengers into Drew County Creek

In the midst of Drew County’s severe thunderstorm, Saturday around 1 pm, The driver of this westbound General Motors SUV lost control of the vehicle in the wet roadway near the Sixteen Section area of Highway 278 East.
Monticello’s Fire and Rescue Team, along with Drew County Sheriffs Deputies and the County OEM, who was on weather patrol at the time.
As shown in the photos, SUV had gone over a creekbank, leaving its occupants trapped inside, as the storm rains continue to fall.
After securing the SUV to A fire department vehicle for safety, The passengers were safely able to be removed from the teetering vehicle.
MASI transported one victim to Drew Memorial Hospital. The other two passengers left the scene with friends and family.
Rod’s Wrecker cleared the roadway.
