December 28th, 2020 by Joe Burgess
At the October Quorum Court meeting, County Clerk Lyna Gulledge submitted her resignation, due to moving to north Arkansas.
The Quorum Court was then assigned with declaring a vacancy in the position and appointing a new County Clerk to serve the remaining two years of Gulledge’s term.
An announcement was posted, instructing interested residents how to apply for the position, and setting a deadline, which passed last week.
Candidates for the job who applied, include
Beth Davis, retired county tax assessor,
Vickey Haycox, legal assistant and recent candidate for County Clerk,
John Gutierrez, member of the county election commission,
Nancy White, employee in the county treasurers office,
Whoever is appointed by the Quorum Court will not be eligible to seek reelection to that office in the next election.
