Update – Punctured Big Rig Tank Leaking Diesel Near Town Square

A big rig was attempting to back into a business on Bailey Street, when a street sign punctured his fuel tank. Monticello Police and Fire Depts, , and Drew County OEM and Sheriff responded.
The fuel tank diesel that is leaking, it’s flowing south on Bailey Street toward McCloy Street.
A small amount may have entered the drain but was stopped by OEM, MFD and city workers, by building a small dam just before the drain.
A hazmat team is enroute at this time . The roadway will be shut down until they give the all clear.
