Principal Kenny Pennington Leaving MHS after 13 Years
July 12th, 2012 by Joe BurgessAfter 13 years principal Kenny Pennington is leaving MHS.
“Mr. Pennington has been offered the position of associate director of Arkansas AdvanceED, formerly know as North Central, which is responsible for accreditation of schools. Pennington will become the director of the organization, next spring, upon the retirement of their current director.
Pennington was assistant principal at MHS from 1996-2000, left for 1 year, then returned as MHS principal in 2001.
He plans to remain a Monticello resident, when his resignation takes effect on July 20.
He told MLive, “I want to thank everyone for their support.. It’s been a blessing to work with the students, teachers, and administration in the Monticello School District. I have been very fortunate to work with outstanding school in outstanding community that support it’s schools.”
Superintendent Bobby Harper told MLive, “Mr Pennington did an outstanding job for us, and provided a great service to the students and the district. We hate to lose him.”
The school board has not taken action, yet, but will likely seek an interim, so that they will have time to find a permanent replacement.
