Price Sawmill Sells to Interfor Corp.
May 11th, 2015 by iPhoneInterfor Corp. of Canada has announced the purchase of the Price Companies’ “Monticello Sawmill.”
MLive spoke to Price’s Dick Carmical, who told us that the transition should be complete in mid-June.
Carmical expects all employees to remain with the new company, and pointed out that only the sawmill operation is being sold. Price Companies corporate offices will remain here, overseeing 22 other locations of operation outside of Monticello, primarily focusing on their wood processing business, of pulp and paper.
The deal creates a presence for Inferor in the US South, and bring their capacity to over 1.3 billion board feet.
For the last 12 months, the Monticello Sawmill produced approximately 75 million board feet of lumber. In addition, the mill has a number of operational and capital investment initiatives underway, including the construction of a continuous dry kiln.
As a result of this transaction, Interfor’s total annual lumber capacity will increase to 3.2 billion board feet, reinforcing its position as the fastest growing lumber company in the world.
