Pool Problems Persist- Contractor & Engineer Make Recommendations
April 13th, 2015 by iPhoneNatare, the manufacturer of the city swimming pool liner, recently came to Monticello, from Indiana, as reported at Thursday nights parks committee meeting. They found six holes in the liner, generally at the seems, that were repaired. Based on that, the contractor and engineer do not believe we need to purchase a new pool liner. The larger problem seems to be that there is a leak in the service line between the meter and the pool. That is where they believe the majority of the water was coming from, between the liner and the concrete basin of the pool. Mayor Zack Tucker describe the amount of the lake, “as if you turned your kitchen faucet own halfway. ” The leak is believed to be between the diving board area and the valve; and city employee efforts to find it will begin this week. Tucker added, “The good news seems to be that this is something city employees can repair, since the problem occurs before the pump and liner portions of the pool.” Tucker also said at Thursday night’s parks committee meeting, “Hopefully these repairs can be completed within a month, and the pool will be able to be open by its usual Memorial Day schedule.” The city is not currently accepting applications for lifeguard positions, but will announce the application dates in the near future.
